Choi Tae-joon is a South Korean actor, model, and MC, born on July 7, 1991, in Seoul. He is active in television, film, and entertainment programs in South Korea.

Early Life

Choi Tae-joon began his career as a child actor in late 2001 while in elementary school. His older brother, who is four years his senior, once participated in a play titled “The Sound of Music.” After coincidentally following his brother to the performance, he was invited by those around him to try acting instead of his brother.

He debuted with the role of the young version of the character played by Jo In-sung in the SBS drama “Piano” in 2001. In 2002, he appeared in “Magic Kid Masuri” as Min Ho-soo. Choi Tae-joon later graduated from Chung-Ang University, majoring in Theater.

Career

In 2001, Choi Tae-joon debuted as young Kyung Ho in the SBS drama “Piano.” In 2002, he appeared in “Magic Kid Masuri.”

In 2011, he played Im Jung, the long-lost son of the protagonist in the fantasy drama “Padam Padam.” In 2012, he portrayed Lee Bang-won, the son of Sung Gye, in the historical drama “The Great Seer.” In the same year, he starred as Min Yoon-gi in the film “Pacemaker.”

In 2013, Choi Tae-joon took on the lead role of Kong Hyeon-seok in the 133-episode drama “Ugly Alert.” In August 2013, he appeared in “Drama Special Series Season 3: Adolescence Medley” as Lee Yeok-ho, a 20-year-old school bully.

In 2014, he played the lead role of Cha Ki-joon in “Mother’s Garden.”

In 2015, he held a supporting role as detective Ye Sang-gil in “The Girl Who Sees Scents,” followed by the lead role of Lee Hyeong-sun in the 54-episode drama “All About My Mom.” He won the “Best Young Actor” award at the 2014 Korea Drama Awards for his role in “All About My Mom.”

In 2016, he played Sung Ji-hun in the 51-episode drama “The Flower in Prison.” In the same year, he starred as Se Jun in the youth film “Eclipse.” In August 2016, he became a permanent MC for the program “Hello Counselor” from episodes 288 to 341. In 2017, he played the villain Choi Tae-ho in the disaster drama “Missing 9,” and the role of lawyer Ji Eun-hyuk in the romantic comedy “Suspicious Partner.” He won “Best Villain” at the 2017 Korea Drama Awards for his role in “Missing 9,” and “Best Character” at the 2017 Asia Artist Awards.

In 2018, Choi Tae-joon played the lead role of Do Gang-soo in the 4-episode special drama “Exit.” In the same year, he starred as Choi Jun-soo in the 32-episode drama “The Undateables” and appeared in the film “Happy Together.”

In 2019, he played Kim Jeong-min in the film “Quantum Physics.”

In 2021, he starred as Hoo Joon in the romantic comedy “So I Married an Anti-Fan,” and as Baek Tae-hwa in “The Man’s Voice.”

In 2022, he made a cameo appearance as Jung Ho-jin, a national fencer, in episodes 6 and 12 of “Twenty-Five Twenty-One.” He also played Kang Chan-hee in episodes 5-6 of “Island,” and participated in episode 4 of “Sixth Sense” Season 3.
