Early life

Dilraba was born into a family with an artistic background—her father was a solo artist with the Xinjiang Song and Dance Troupe. From an early age, she was exposed to the arts and studied various disciplines, including piano, dance, violin, and guitar.

In 2001, at the age of nine, she took an entrance exam for an arts institute, initially believing it was for an extracurricular class, but was unexpectedly admitted to a professional dance program. There, she studied traditional dance and ballet for six years. In 2007, after completing the secondary program at the Xinjiang Arts Institute, she joined the Xinjiang Song and Dance Troupe as a dancer.

In 2009, Dilraba enrolled in a one-year preparatory program at the School of Ethnology, Northeast Normal University, where she won third place at Jilin Province’s first ethnic singing competition.

Initially, she considered applying to the Central Conservatory of Music due to her strong piano background. However, on the advice of her teachers, she shifted her focus to acting. In 2010, Dilraba was admitted to the Shanghai Theatre Academy, majoring in drama, film, and television performance. That same year, she auditioned for the lead female role of Yu Ji in the historical film King’s Feast, which marked an early step in gaining industry attention.

Career

Dilraba Dilmurat began her artistic career in 2007 when she joined the Xinjiang Song and Dance Troupe as a dancer. After shifting her focus to acting, she landed her first leading role in the television drama Anarhan (2013).

In 2014, she signed with Jay Walk Studio and took part in projects produced by the company, such as V Love and Swords of Legends. This marked the period when she officially began her career in mainland Chinese television.

From 2015 to 2016, she gained recognition with Diamond Lover and Hot Girl. These two dramas earned her her first awards at the China TV Drama Awards and ENAwards, affirming her progress in the acting industry.

In 2017, Dilraba became a familiar face on the small screen with Pretty Li Huizhen and Eternal Love. The latter earned her a nomination at the Shanghai Television Festival. In the same year, she starred in the romantic comedy film Mr. Pride vs Miss Prejudice and joined the popular variety show Keep Running.

In 2018, she continued to appear frequently in both television and film projects, including The Flame’s Daughter, Sweet Dreams, and 21 Karat. That same year, she was selected as the “Golden Eagle Goddess” at the Golden Eagle TV Art Festival and established her own independent studio under Jay Walk Studio.

In 2019, Dilraba took part in the CCTV New Year’s Gala, became a regular cast member of Go Fighting! season 5, and served as a mentor on the talent survival show Produce Camp 2019.

The 2020–2021 period was marked by notable dramas such as Eternal Love of Dream, Love Designer, The Long Ballad, and You Are My Glory. The latter was reported to have achieved around 4 billion online views during its broadcast.

From 2022 to 2023, Dilraba starred in The Blue Whisper, Legend of Anle, and Prosecution Elites. This period saw her continue to maintain a stable position in the Chinese television drama industry.

Entering 2024–2025, she returned with several new drama projects. Love on the Turquoise Land began filming in September 2024 and wrapped in February 2025, with an expected release of around 40 episodes on Tencent.

In 2025, she will take on the lead role in the crime drama Sword Rose, portraying a policewoman assigned to an anti-human trafficking unit. The drama is confirmed to premiere on July 28, 2025, on Tencent and iQiyi. In addition, she is working on Love Beyond the Grave, which is currently in post-production, reflecting her direction toward more diverse genres.
