She is currently active mainly in the music industry as a solo singer and actress, and is signed under the label Mengxiang Qiangyin (梦响强音).

Early life

Huang Xiaoyun was born and raised in a musically inclined family, with both of her parents working as music teachers. From as early as six months old, she demonstrated an exceptional sensitivity to music by being able to accurately hum along to melodies played on the radio.

At the age of two, she was taught to play the drums by her father and later joined the family band Le Wanjia, which was organized by her parents. She went on to learn piano and guzheng, frequently participating in local singing competitions where she achieved notable results.

During middle school, she traveled to Guiyang every weekend to study classical vocal techniques (bel canto), with the goal of being admitted to the Middle School affiliated with the Central Conservatory of Music. Huang Xiaoyun successfully passed the entrance exam and continued her specialized training in vocal performance there until graduation.

Career

Huang Xiaoyun began her career in 2015 by competing on season 4 of The Voice of China (中国好声音), produced by Zhejiang Television. She joined singer-songwriter Wang Feng’s team and advanced to the Top 16, marking her public debut and laying the foundation for her professional singing career.

During 2017–2018, she released her first singles, including Zheng Zhan (征战, 2017), Hai Ke Yi Ai Ma (還可以愛嗎), and her self-composed track Da Kai (打开). China as an assistant coach (导师助教) on Wang Feng’s team.

In 2022, Huang Xiaoyun participated in season 4 of Our Song (also known as Singing with Legends), produced by Dragon TV. That year, she released the duet single Hudie Furen (蝴蝶夫人, Madama Butterfly) with Wang Heye.

In 2023, she performed the soundtrack song Yao Buran Women Jiu Zheyang Yi Wan Nian (要不然我们就这样一万年) for the historical fantasy drama Chang Yue Jin Ming (长月烬明, Till the End of the Moon), marking her entry into OSTs alongside her solo projects.

In 2024, Huang Xiaoyun appeared at the CCTV Spring Festival Gala, performing a medley of Caoyuan Zhi Ye (草原之夜) and Hua’er Weishenme Zheyang Hong (花儿为什么这样红) in Kashgar. On November 14, 2024, she released her second studio album Wuyan Jijie (无言季节, Wordless Season), featuring 20 new tracks.
