Koshiba Fuka is a Japanese actress, born on April 16, 1997, in Sakai City, Osaka Prefecture, Japan. She began her acting career in 2012 and is currently represented by the talent agency Top Coat (formerly with Oscar Promotion, which she left at the beginning of 2025).
Over more than a decade in the industry, Koshiba Fuka has appeared in numerous films and television dramas. She is widely recognized for her lead role in Kiki’s Delivery Service (2014), as well as her performances in TV dramas such as Youkai Share House, Bishoku Tantei Akechi Goro, Kanojo wa Kirei datta, and the series Akinai Seden Kin to Gin.
Early life
Fuka Koshiba grew up in Sakai, Osaka Prefecture. During her childhood, she trained in figure skating, competing at the regional level and being recognized as a promising athlete with aspirations of reaching the Winter Olympics. She attained Level 7 certification under the Japan Skating Federation’s official testing system and took part in a nationwide talent identification camp.
She attended Asakayama Elementary School and Asakayama Junior High School in her hometown. Later, she enrolled at Hinode High School (now Meguro Nihon University Junior & Senior High School), which offers programs supporting students who balance academics with artistic pursuits. In her second year of high school, due to the demanding filming schedule for her leading role in Kiki’s Delivery Service, she transferred to a distance-learning program to better accommodate her acting career.
Career
Fuka Koshiba entered the entertainment industry in 2011 after winning the Grand Prix at the Ion and Oscar Promotion Girl Audition. This marked a turning point in her life, as she stepped away from competitive figure skating to pursue an acting career under Oscar Promotion.
In 2012, she made her acting debut in the television drama Iki mo Dekinai Natsu. Two years later, Koshiba landed her breakthrough role as the lead in the live-action film adaptation of the beloved novel and anime Kiki’s Delivery Service, making her first major appearance on the big screen in a central role.
From 2015 onward, she continued to expand her film career with appearances in Girls Step (2015), Tenshi no Iru Toshokan (2017), and Sadako DX (2022). Alongside film, her television work also flourished. She appeared in the morning drama Here Comes Asa! (2016), starred in Tokusatsu GaGaGa (2019) and the short series Parallel Tokyo (2019), and went on to lead the series Yokai Housemate from 2020 to 2022. In 2021, she featured in two high-profile projects: Mocomi and the Japanese remake of She Was Pretty.
Between 2023 and 2024, Koshiba broadened her range of roles, appearing in Born to Be on Air!, Fermat’s Cuisine, and taking the lead in the period drama Ōoku: The Palace. In 2025, she joined the cast of the historical Taiga drama Unbound for the first time, while also starring in new television series such as The 19th Medical Chart and Marry My Husband.
Beyond acting, Koshiba has been a prominent figure in advertising, appearing in numerous commercial campaigns for consumer and cosmetic brands including CANMAKE, Kochakaden, SMBC Mobit, Lunch Pack, Alcon, and Nisshin OilliO.
In 2024, she received the Newcomer of the Year Award at the Elan d’or Awards, a recognition of her outstanding contributions and rising profile in the industry. That same year, she ended her contract with Oscar Promotion.
In 2025, Koshiba officially signed with Top Coat. The year also marked a career milestone as she made her Taiga drama debut in Unbound, while further strengthening her presence on television with roles in The 19th Medical Chart and Marry My Husband.
