Early life
She completed her schooling locally before being admitted to the Beijing Film Academy (北京电影学院) in 2021, majoring in Acting. Prior to her debut, she had little exposure to the entertainment industry.
Career
In 2019, Liu Mengrui filmed the period fantasy romance drama Love and Redemption (琉璃) alongside Cheng Yi, Yuan Bingyan, Liu Xueyi and others, playing the role of Yu’er, a half-human, half-demon character. The series was later released on August 6, 2020, on Youku and Mango TV.
In 2021, she participated in the national art examination and was admitted to the Beijing Film Academy, officially starting her studies in acting.
In 2022, Liu Mengrui participated in the 16th FIRST Training Camp’s Independent Short Film Collection with the project ‘Opportunity.’ That same year, she starred as Li Sa in the short film ‘Opportunity Delayed, Waiting in Misery.’ Later in the year, on November 30, the historical romance drama ‘Shining Just For You’ (星河长明) premiered on Youku, starring Feng Shaofeng and Peng Xiaoran. In the drama, she portrayed Qi Hairui (七海蕊), Princess of Yanbei.
In 2023, she joined the wuxia drama Mysterious Lotus Casebook (莲花楼), which aired on July 23 on Tencent Video, starring Cheng Yi, Joseph Zeng, and Xiao Shunyao. Liu Mengrui played Princess Zhaoling. On August 26, she also appeared on the Hunan TV variety show Hello Saturday.
