Meng Lu (孟璐) is a Chinese actress, born on August 23 in Shaanxi Province, China. She graduated from the Beijing Film Academy, one of the top performing arts institutions in China. Meng Lu began working in film and television in the early 2010s, taking roles in TV dramas, films, and web dramas.
Career
Her career is closely tied to the rise of online films, web films, and Chinese short dramas, which became a major trend from the late 2010s.
Meng Lu made her first on-screen appearance in the historical film Beginning of the Great Revival (2011), playing a supporting role as a student. The film was a major state-backed production that brought together many rising young actors.
In 2013, she appeared in the modern family comedy “Da Zhang Fu”, and in the same year took part in the legendary costume drama “Hero Era”.
In April 2015, she joined the palace costume drama “Beauty Fragrance”; on October 9, the urban web comedy “Wake Up, Xiao Zhu” premiered on LeTV, where Meng Lu played Maya, both a host and café owner.
In May 2016, she starred in the modern educational film about study tours “Love Me, Chang’an”; on July 13, the time-travel idol costume drama “Sword Chaos” was released on iQIYI, in which Meng Lu played Ou Xiaonuo, a modern-day girl who, while gaming, time-travels back to the Warring States period and becomes a swordsmith; in September the same year, she took the lead in the suspense web-drama “Human Doll”, portraying a doll controlled by psychological hypnotist Bai Xi; also that year, she participated in the martial arts romance film “Smiling Proud Wanderer”; on November 22, she attended the premiere of “Love Me, Chang’an” in Xi’an.
In 2017, in director Yang Qiming’s martial arts period film “Dragon Universe”, Meng Lu played Princess Ling Zhao; in October, the sci-fi action film “Ultimate Code” started shooting in Fenghuang Ancient Town, Hunan, where she played the many-sided goddess Ye Yan, sometimes energetic and cute, other times cold as ice.
On March 6, 2018, the fantasy web-drama “Lang Jian Jie ” premiered on iQIYI, with Meng Lu portraying the wandering thief Li Zhi, who always seeks to seize the evil-origin Sky Wolf Blade and its master Lang Shiqi; on March 13, she appeared in the urban romantic comedy film “Treasure Grab Scheme”, also on iQIYI, where she played Leng Jing, outwardly innocent and sweet but secretly scheming to steal the jade pendant while staying close to Guo Dong.
On March 12, 2024, the TV drama “The Standout” starring her was broadcast; on July 17, she appeared in the web-drama “Don’t Leave, Bié Xi Jun”; on September 28, the film “Journey of Fury”, in which she played the lead role, was released; on December 24, she starred in the web-drama “Shilai Transportation”.
By 2025, Meng Lu continues to focus mainly on online films and web dramas, with a diverse portfolio of roles spanning modern, historical, and fantasy genres.
Strengths
Meng Lu’s formal training at the Beijing Film Academy has given her solid acting skills and the ability to handle a wide range of roles. She has played both leading roles (such as Ou Xiaonuo in Sword Chaos, 2016) and supporting characters in major productions (Beginning of the Great Revival, 2011).
One of her strengths is flexibility across genres: from historical dramas and martial arts films to modern psychological roles. In Dragon Universe (2019), her role as Ling Zhao showcased her acting in a fantasy setting, while Hua Ji De Jiu Shu (花季的旧书, 2021) demonstrated her talent in more realistic, contemporary roles.
