Saori Hara, born Mai Kato (加藤まい), is a former Japanese AV actress, model, and mainstream actress, born on January 1, 1988, in Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan. Since 2014, she has been active under the stage name Miyavi Matsunoi (松野井雅), pursuing a career in mainstream acting. From 2008 to 2011, Saori Hara was one of the most prominent figures in the Japanese adult entertainment industry before transitioning into mainstream acting and modeling.

Early Life

Saori Hara was born into a multicultural family in Hiroshima, with a Japanese mother and a father of mixed German-Japanese descent. She began her entertainment career at a young age as a junior idol under the stage name Mai Nanami.

During her teenage years, she showcased her musical talent by performing the theme song “Spicy Days” for the anime The Marshmallow Times on TV Osaka in 2004. In 2005, she also appeared in two productions: the TBS drama The Dream of Delinquent Boys in March and the feature film Haru Urara in April. Additionally, Mai Nanami released her first bikini photobook Mai Nanami First Photobook in May 2005, followed by the gravure DVD Mai Nanami: Yamagishi Shin Digital Movie Museum in August 2005.

Career

Saori Hara began her entertainment career in 2004 as Mai Nanami, entering the idol and gravure idol scene. During this period, she released photobooks and DVDs, while also performing the theme song for a children’s anime series on Osaka television.

In 2008, she returned to the entertainment industry under the name Saori Hara, initially appearing in gravure videos. In September of that year, she signed an exclusive contract with Soft On Demand (SOD), officially entering the adult film industry. In 2009, her debut work Real Celebrity Saori Hara: Miraculous AV Debut was released, selling approximately 100,000 copies and propelling her to national prominence.

From 2009 to 2010, Saori Hara maintained an intensive release schedule with SOD, taking part in various promotional campaigns, including public awareness projects on sexually transmitted disease prevention. At the same time, she expanded her activities into artistic nude photography, photobooks, and appearances in men’s magazines. In 2010, she won Best Actress at the Sky PerfecTV! Adult Broadcasting Awards, one of the industry’s most prestigious honors.

Alongside her AV career, she gradually transitioned into mainstream acting. In 2010, Saori Hara starred in the horror-comedy film Horny House of Horror and appeared in other film projects. In 2011, she took part in the Hong Kong production 3D Sex and Zen: Extreme Ecstasy, one of Asia’s first widely released 3D erotic films. That same year, she announced her retirement from the AV industry in August.

After a hiatus, she reemerged in 2014 under the stage name Miyavi Matsunoi, focusing entirely on mainstream entertainment, particularly film and television. In 2015, she played the role of Amily in the tokusatsu series GARO: Gold Storm Flight. In 2016, she reprised her involvement in the franchise with GARO: Makai Retsuden. By 2018, she returned to the big screen in GARO: Fang of God, further cementing her ties to the action-fantasy series.

Outside of acting, Miyavi Matsunoi has also pursued modeling, appearing in major Japanese magazines. In 2014, she was featured in Weekly Playboy in a photo series titled “Rebirth”, symbolizing her renewal after a turbulent period.

From 2019 to 2025, Miyavi Matsunoi has remained active as a mainstream actress. She continues to take part in film and television projects and makes appearances at cultural and entertainment promotional events in Japan. With this trajectory, Saori Hara – now Miyavi Matsunoi – has completely transitioned away from adult films, firmly establishing her career as an actress and model in the mainstream entertainment industry.
