Wang Yibo (王一博), born on August 5, 1997, is a Chinese singer, actor, television host, and professional motorcycle racer. He debuted in 2014 as the main dancer and main rapper of the South Korean-Chinese boy band UNIQ under Yuehua Entertainment.

Early life

Wang Yibo was born in Luoyang, Henan Province, China. He began learning to dance at the age of 13. In 2011, while a secondary school student, he participated in the national dance competition I’m the Best Dancer and placed in the top 16 of the hip-hop category. Following this competition, Wang Yibo was scouted by Yuehua Entertainment and became a trainee. Two years later, the company sent him to South Korea to train at YG Entertainment as part of a collaborative program between YG and Yuehua.

Career

In 2014, 17-year-old Wang Yibo made his debut performance on October 16 in the South Korean-Chinese boy band UNIQ as the main dancer and main rapper.

In 2016, Wang Yibo participated in the variety show Day Day Up in January and became an official host in April. In the same year, he appeared in the films MBA Partners and A Chinese Odyssey Part Three.

In 2017, Wang Yibo took on a lead role in the television series Private Shushan Gakuen and appeared in Love Actually. In April, he received the Best New Idol Award at the Top Chinese Music Awards. In August, he collaborated with Guan Xiaotong on the song “Once Again”. In November, he released the track “Just Dance”.

In 2018, in February, Wang Yibo performed a solo dance at the Hunan TV Spring Festival Gala. In March, he served as a dance mentor on the reality show Produce 101 China. In October, he provided a voice-over for the animated film Crystal Sky of Yesterday and performed the soundtrack song “Heart Affairs of the Youth”.

In 2019, in January, Wang Yibo released the solo single “Fire”. In March, he released “Lucky”. In June, he starred in Gank Your Heart with theme song “Burning Adventure”, appeared as team leader in skateboarding show One More Try, and on June 27, The Untamed premiered with his role as Lan Wangji and character theme “Won’t Forget”. In August, he competed in ZIC Motorbike Race in Zhuhai with Yamaha China Racing Team #85. In December, he released “No Sense”, his first songwriting credit.

In 2020, in May, Wang Yibo was captain for Street Dance of China S3. In August, he starred as Wei Yichen in My Strange Friend. In October, his team won S3. In December, he played Xie Yun in Legend of Fei with soundtrack “First Rays”. On December 30, he released “My Rules”.

In 2021, in February, Wang Yibo appeared at CCTV Spring Festival Gala and Lantern Festival Gala. On May 27, he became Top Dancer Promotion Ambassador for China Dancers Association. In June, he played Jiang Xianyun in The Choice from Faith Makes Great. In August, his team won Street Dance of China S4. In December, he starred as Baili Hongyi in Luoyang. On December 30, he released “Standup”.

In 2022, in August, Wang Yibo played anti-drug police officer Chen Yu in Being A Hero. He returned as captain for Street Dance of China S5. In September, he appeared at CCTV Mid-Autumn Festival Gala. In December, he released “Like the Sunshine”.

In 2023, on January 22, Wang Yibo appeared in Hidden Blade and was nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the 36th Golden Rooster Awards. In April, he played test pilot Lei Yu in Born to Fly. In July, he starred as break-dancer Chen Shuo in One and Only and was nominated for Best Actor at the 37th Golden Rooster Awards. On December 29, he released EP Bystander.

In 2024, on March 21, Wang Yibo starred as Wei Ruolai in War of Faith. On May 1, he played peacekeeping officer Yang Zhen in Formed Police Unit. On July 14, he participated in Paris 2024 Olympic Torch Relay. On July 29, documentary Defenders of the Hidden about Chinese pangolin conservation premiered. On August 31, Exploring the Unknown with Wang Yibo premiered. On December 28, he released “I Am Here”.

In 2025, on January 28, Wang Yibo appeared at CCTV Spring Festival Gala, performing “I Can” with Jam Hsiao. On October 9, he released “With Overwhelming Momentum” for the 15th National Games of China. On November 28, Exploring the Unknown with Wang Yibo Season 2 premiered.
