Xu Mengyuan (also known as Xu Qingya) is a Chinese film and television actress. Born on October 10, 1994, in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, Xu graduated from the Acting Department of the Nanjing University of the Arts. She has been active in the entertainment industry since 2007.
Early life
The name Xu Mengyuan originated from a dream shared by her parents. She attended Henan Oilfield No. 1 Primary School, Decheng School, Luohu Middle School, and the music class at Zhixing School. During her junior high school years, she worked as a uniform model for secondary schools in Shenzhen.
In 2011, she represented Shenzhen students in the promotional video for the opening of the 2011 Summer Universiade. That same year, Xu ranked first both nationally and provincially in the entrance examination for the performance major at the Nanjing University of the Arts.
Career
In 2007, Xu Mengyuan made her screen debut in the sitcom Tutor Queen, portraying Stephanie. In 2016, she starred in the science fiction web film Super Express Courier.
In May 2017, she appeared in the campus web series My Huckleberry Friends as Xin Rui, a transfer student. During the same year, she took a leading role in the fantasy idol drama Cambrian Period.
In 2018, she participated in the romantic comedy Fantastic Girlfriend.
In January 2019, Xu appeared in the wuxia drama Love in Between, directed by Mao Kunyu, playing the character Xie Jiang’er. In March, she starred alongside Li Jiaqi, Zhao Yiqin, and Li Gegyang in the youth drama Salute to My Youth as Xu Meili. On October 12, she participated in the second season of the sports variety show Super Nova Games.
On February 6, 2020, she starred in the web film Song Ci, released on iQIYI. On March 19, the historical drama Love of Thousand Years premiered, featuring Xu as Cui Ya. During the same year, she returned to Super Nova Games, placing third in women’s archery, and appeared as a guest actress in director Derek Yee’s team on the program Actors, Please Take Your Place.
In 2021, Xu starred in the long-distance relationship film Love Dialog as Qian Qian, which opened nationwide on June 11. On the same day, the youth drama Don’t Leave After School was released, featuring Xu as Cheng Ying. On September 8, she appeared as the Go player He Yan in the romance drama GO Into Your Heart. She also starred in the wuxia series Assassin Academy and began filming the action movie Yanying Blade: Descent of the Evil God.
In 2022, she starred in Raindrops on Banana Leaves, a film selected for the FIRST Youth Film Festival. She also appeared in the xianxia web series Immortality. On October 19, production began for the historical romance web series Three Lives: A Bewildering Love with Xu in the lead role.
On April 30, 2023, she starred as physician Yun Ruoyue in the first season of the web series My Smart Doctor Wife. Subsequent seasons were released on Tencent Video in May. On September 13, she made a special guest appearance in the school-themed drama Koi is a Skill. On November 25, she appeared in the modern romance I May Love You. On December 8, the mystery web series Deep in the Case was released.
In 2024, Xu Mengyuan appeared in several projects, including the short film The President Wants to Legitimize the Child Every Day, the period drama South to North, and the film Legend of the Ancient Sword. Other short film credits include Has the CEO Checked Out Successfully Today? (as Yu Xiantian), Flash Marriage with the Tycoon, The Cycle of Xia Yang, and Summer in Sanjing Alley. At the end of the year, she received the “Best Actress of the Year” award on the 2024 DataEye Micro-drama Popularity Chart during the 6th Hainan Island International Film Festival.
