Xu Mengyuan (Chinese: 许梦圆; pinyin: Xǔ Mèngyuán; also credited as Xu Qingya / Stephanie Xu) is a Chinese television and film actress. She was born on October 10, 1994, in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, China. Xu graduated from the Nanjing University of the Arts, majoring in Acting, and has been active in the entertainment industry since 2007.

Early life

Xu Mengyuan, her name comes from a dream that her parents had. She attended Henan Oilfield No. 1 Primary School, Decheng School, Luohu Middle School, and Xingzhi School Music Class. She has been dubbed the “school belle” since junior high school, served as a school uniform model for Shenzhen middle schools, and was a representative of Shenzhen middle schools in the opening promotional video of the 2011 Universiade.

In 2011, Xu Mengyuan was admitted to the performance major of Nanjing University of the Arts with the first place in the country and outside the province.

Career

In 2007, Xu Mengyuan made her first screen appearance in the sitcom Tutor Queen, playing Stephanie, the daughter of the character Yin Jie.

In 2016, she starred in the sci-fi web drama Super Express Courier.

In May 2017, she appeared in the youth campus web drama My Huckleberry Friends, portraying Xin Rui, a transfer student who suffered from bullying. In the same year, she played a leading role in the suspense idol drama Cambrian Period.

In 2018, she participated in the romantic comedy Metamorphosis Girl.

In January 2019, she filmed the costume martial-arts drama Love in Between, directed by Mao Kunyu, portraying the intelligent and kind-hearted Xie Jiang’er. In March of the same year, she co-starred with Li Jiaqi, Zhao Yiqin, and Li Geyang in the youth campus drama Wait, My Youth, where she played the considerate and wealthy best friend Xu Meili. On October 12, she took part in the second season of the cross-over sports and entertainment reality show Super Nova Games.

On February 6, 2020, she headlined the web film Forensic Song Ci, which premiered on iQIYI. On March 19, the costume drama The Killing of Three Thousand Crows aired, in which she played Cui Ya. That year, she again competed in Super Nova Games, winning third place in the women’s archery competition, and also appeared as a guest performer in director Derek Yee’s team on the variety show Actors, Please Take Your Place.

On April 23, 2021, she starred in China’s first long-distance romance feature film Love Dialog, playing the character Qian Qian. On June 4, the film had its nationwide release. On June 11, the youth campus drama Don’t Leave After School was broadcast, with Xu playing Cheng Jing. On September 8, the youth romance drama Chess Love was released, where she portrayed the chess player He Yu. She also starred in the martial-arts suspense series Assassin Academy, and began filming the action movie Yanling Blade: Descent of the Evil God.

In 2022, she starred in the award-winning film Raindrops on Banana Leaves, which was selected at the FIRST Youth Film Festival. That year, she also appeared in the xianxia web drama Immortality. On October 19, filming began for the historical romance web series Three Lives: A Bewildering Love, with Xu in a leading role.

On April 30, 2023, she starred in the web drama My Smart Doctor Wife Season 1, playing Yun Ruoyue, a brilliant female doctor. Season 2 was exclusively released on Tencent Video on May 15, and Season 3 on May 30. On September 13, she made a special appearance in the college campus inspirational drama Koi is a Skill. On November 25, she had a guest role in the modern romance series More Than Liking You. On December 8, the crime-suspense web drama Deep in the Case was released.

From January to December 2024, Xu Mengyuan appeared in several projects, including the short drama The CEO Wants to Legitimize the Child Every Day, the period ensemble drama South to North, the film Legend of the Ancient Sword, the short drama Has the CEO Checked Out Smoothly Today? (as Yu Xianxian), Flash Marriage with the Tycoon, The Cycle of Xia Yang, the variety program Short Drama Season Premiere, and the short series Summer in Sanjing Hutong. At the end of the year, she won the “Best Actress of the Year” award on the 2024 DataEye Micro-Drama Popularity Chart during the 6th Hainan International Film Festival.

On February 8, 2025, she appeared in the short series Ji Tianzhao. On March 20, she participated in the 2025 Micro-Drama Quality Awards Ceremony.
