Group Name Meaning

The name ENHYPEN was inspired by the hyphen symbol. Just as a hyphen connects different words to create new meanings, the members connect, discover one another, and grow together. The group’s official greeting slogan is “One, two, connect! Hello, we are ENHYPEN!”.

Fandom & Lightstick

The official fandom name for ENHYPEN is ENGENE, announced on October 9, 2020. ENGENE carries two meanings: first, fans are the “engine” that enables the group to grow and move forward; second, fans are ENHYPEN’s “gene” as both share the same DNA to connect, discover, and grow together.

The official lightstick was announced on November 13, 2020, and released on November 17, 2020. It features a silver handle and a transparent spherical head containing the light core. The product dimensions are 9.93 x 9.2 x 22.54 cm, made of PC and ABS materials.

The lightstick uses three AAA batteries, operating for approximately 3 hours in standard mode and 9 hours in performance mode. It connects via Bluetooth to smartphones through the ENHYPEN Official Light Stick app (now integrated into the Weverse app), allowing for light color control and concert synchronization. Version 2, released in 2024, includes a strap, a dust bag, and 7 photocards.

Popularity

ENHYPEN currently possesses a massive fan base across various Asian and North American markets, including the Philippines, Indonesia, the United States, China, and Japan. The group is recognized as one of the K-pop representatives with the strongest Gen Z fandoms today.

As of January 2026, ENHYPEN has approximately 19 million followers on Instagram, 13 million subscribers on YouTube, and around 10 million monthly listeners on Spotify. The group ranks among the K-pop artists with the highest YouTube follower growth during this period.

ENHYPEN has developed a vampire concept throughout their musical releases since debut. The group has its own webtoon titled Dark Moon, which depicts a fictional world of vampires, curses, and supernatural powers; several of their songs are linked to this storyline. Their music videos frequently integrate storytelling elements to showcase their unique worldview.

Musical Style

ENHYPEN features two primary musical styles in their discography: a blend of pop, hip-hop, and rock with powerful beats, as seen in “FUTURE PERFECT” and early title tracks; and a dark, alluring style utilizing vampire metaphors, showcased in the “Sacrifice (Eat Me Up)” and “FEVER” music videos.

The album Dark Blood (2023) delved deeper into the vampire concept with the title track “Bite Me.” The album explores themes of love, separation, loneliness, sacrifice, and devotion, characterized by breathy vocals and a sense of profound longing. The track “Fate” opens with a lengthy narration mentioning “love wrapped in blood.” The 2024 album Memorabilia continues to maintain the group’s two signature styles within a single release.
