Choi Jungeun is a South Korean singer born in 2007 under WAKEONE Entertainment. She debuted as a member of the girl group izna on November 25, 2024, with the release of the first mini album N/a. Within izna, Choi Jungeun serves as the main vocalist.
Early life
In 2007, Choi Jungeun was born on August 4 in Jung-gu, Incheon, South Korea. Her family consists of her parents and an older sister, Choi Yoonjung, who was a contestant on My Teenage Girl and a YG Entertainment trainee. Her father is a director of photography and provided special instruction for his daughter during an appearance on the program CAP-TEEN. Her mother serves as the director of a flight academy.
In terms of education, Choi Jungeun attended Inseong Elementary School before transferring to and graduating from Yeongdong Elementary School in Seoul. She subsequently attended Dangsan Middle School and is currently enrolled at Deokwon Girls’ High School.
In 2020, Choi Jungeun participated in the Mnet survival show CAP-TEEN in October but was eliminated in the first episode.
Career
In 2021, Choi Jungeun participated in the MBC trainee recruitment program My Teenage Girl, which aired from November 2021 to March 2022. She reached the 6th position in the final rankings but did not debut in the group CLASS:y.
In June 2024, she participated in the survival show “I-LAND 2: N/a” produced by Mnet and HYBE Labels Japan, a program designed to select members for a new global girl group. Throughout the show, Choi Jungeun demonstrated her singing and dancing abilities through various elimination rounds, including vocal and performance skill tests. On August 30, 2024, she secured 4th place in the final voting rankings with 717,036 votes, officially becoming a pre-debut member of the girl group izna.
On November 25, 2024, Choi Jungeun debuted with izna with their first mini-album titled “N/a” and the title track “IZNA.” The album reached number 4 on the Circle Album Chart in its first week of release.
In 2025, Choi Jungeun performed with izna at the Tokyo Dome for the Laposta 2025 event on February 1. She appeared in the April 13 and April 20 episodes of Mystery Music Show, where she advanced past the first round. On August 1, 2025, she performed the song “Golden” with Bang Jeemin and Koko at KCON LA 2025, held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
