Haewon, born Oh Hae-won, is a South Korean singer born in 2003 under JYP Entertainment. She is the leader and main vocalist of the girl group NMIXX, which debuted on February 22, 2022, with the single album AD MARE.
Early life
Haewon was born on February 25, 2003, in Incheon, South Korea. She has an older sister born in 1998. Haewon aspired to become a singer from the age of five, influenced by her sister who was a K-pop fan. During elementary school, she encountered the song “Demons” by Imagine Dragons; despite not understanding the lyrics, she felt a connection to the melody and desired to evoke similar emotions in others.
Haewon graduated from Incheon Jangdo Elementary School and Incheon Nonhyeon Middle School. She attended Incheon Nonhyeon High School before transferring to and graduating from Doonchon High School. In 2017, she participated in a three-day girl group audition for JYP Entertainment. During the audition, she performed “Halo” by Beyoncé and secured first place among over 9,000 contestants.
Following her admission to JYP Entertainment, Haewon underwent training for over four years. During her trainee period, she appeared at the JYP Trainee Mini Showcase in 2018 and 2019. On November 4, 2021, Haewon was announced as the sixth member of NMIXX through a cover video of “I Love You 3000” by Stephanie Poetri.
Career
In 2022, Haewon debuted as the leader and main vocalist of NMIXX on February 22 with the single album AD MARE. In August, she served as an MC at KCON 2022. In December, she became an MC for the radio program K-909 on Universe.
In 2023, she continued her hosting duties on K-909 and began hosting Dilemma Game. Haewon provided vocals for the NMIXX title tracks “Love Me Like This”, “Party O’Clock”, and “Roller Coaster”.
In 2024, Haewon was selected as the MC for the second season of the web variety show Workdol on the YouTube channel Workman, with the first episode airing on April 4. On May 18, she appeared on the television program Knowing Brothers. She also participated in Radio Star. On September 29, she appeared on Running Man alongside actor Kim Dong-jun. On September 10, she released the OST “Maru is a Puppy” for the television program of the same name.
In 2025, Haewon appeared on the program Hangout With Yoo on January 11. On January 18, she released the track “Is It Still Beautiful” alongside Park Jin-joo, Ailee, and Lee Mi-joo as part of the project group Winter Dream Girls for the Hangout With Yoo Wintersong special. This was followed by the release of “Butterfly” with Winter Song Mates on January 25. Her television appearances continued with Sixth Sense: City Tour on March 13. On August 13, she featured in the song “54321” from pH-1’s album WHAT HAVE WE DONE. On October 13, Haewon was credited as a composer for the tracks “PODIUM” and “Crush On You” on NMIXX’s first studio album, Blue Valentine.
