Jiwoo (born Kim Ji-woo on April 13, 2005) is a South Korean singer and rapper under JYP Entertainment. Jiwoo is the main rapper of the South Korean girl group NMIXX and debuted with the group on February 22, 2022, with the single album Ad Mare.
Early life
Jiwoo was born on April 13, 2005, in Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. Jiwoo has an older sister born in 2001. Jiwoo attended Yangjeong Middle School and Guri Girls’ High School before transferring to the entertainment department at Hanlim Multi Arts School.
Jiwoo began performing arts in the fifth grade at a dance academy, where the artist practiced choreography from girl groups such as Girls’ Generation, SISTAR, and Girl’s Day.
In 2018, at the age of 13, Jiwoo auditioned for JYP Entertainment at DASTREET Dance academy, performing Taeyeon’s “11:11” and the choreography for TWICE’s “TT.” Following the audition, Jiwoo joined JYP Entertainment as a trainee in 2018.
Career
In 2019, Jiwoo appeared in the JYP Trainee Mini Showcase alongside Lily, Haewon, Jinni, Bae and Kyujin.
In 2021, on August 6, JYP Entertainment announced Jiwoo as one of the first three members of the upcoming girl group NMIXX, alongside Jinni and Kyujin, through a dance performance video.
In 2022, on February 22, Jiwoo debuted as the main rapper of NMIXX with the single album Ad Mare and its lead single “O.O.” Jiwoo performed the rap sections in the opening and chorus of the debut track. On September 19, Jiwoo released the second single album Entwurf with the group, featuring the lead single “Dice.” On November 23, Jiwoo participated in the release of the single “Funky Glitter Christmas.”
In 2023, on March 20, Jiwoo released the first EP Expérgo with NMIXX, featuring the lead single “Love Me Like This.” On July 24, Jiwoo released the third single album A Midsummer NMIXX’s Dream with the lead single “Party O’Clock.”
In 2024, on January 15, Jiwoo released the second EP Fe3O4: Break with the group, featuring the lead single “Dash.” During this year, Jiwoo served as a special MC for the programs Show Champion and Show! Music Core. On August 19, Jiwoo released the third EP Fe3O4: Stick Out with the lead single “See That?.”
In 2025, on June 10, Jiwoo released the track “Ridin’ (Prod. THE HUB)” with Lily and Kyujin for the Mnet television program soundtrack album World of Street Woman Fighter (WSWF) Original Vol.2 (Class Mission). On October 13, Jiwoo released the first full-length album with NMIXX titled Blue Valentine, featuring the title track of the same name. On November 29 and 30, Jiwoo performed at the Inspire Arena in Incheon, South Korea, as part of the group’s first world tour, Episode 1: Zero Frontier.
