Lisa, born Pranpriya Manobal (ปราณปริยา มโนบาล) and later legally renamed Lalisa Manobal (ลลิษา มโนบาล), was born on March 27, 1997, in Buriram Province, Thailand. She is a Thai singer, rapper, and dancer under YG Entertainment. She is a member of the K-pop girl group BLACKPINK, serving as the main dancer, lead rapper, and sub-vocalist.
Early Life
Lisa grew up with her Thai mother and Swiss stepfather. She attended Praphamontree I and II School. From around the age of four, Lisa began learning dance and frequently participated in dance competitions. She was once a member of the dance crew We Zaa Cool alongside BamBam of GOT7, winning the Special Team Award at the LG Entertainment Million Dream Sanan World competition in 2009.
Career
In 2010, Lisa auditioned for YG Entertainment in Thailand and was the only participant selected. In 2011, she moved to South Korea and began a five-year trainee program focusing on dance, rap, and stage performance.
In August 2016, Lisa debuted with BLACKPINK under YG Entertainment with the single album Square One, featuring the songs “Whistle” and “Boombayah,” both topping South Korea’s digital charts. Within the group, she took on the role of main dancer and lead rapper, and went on to participate in subsequent releases such as Square Two (2016), As If It’s Your Last (2017), Kill This Love (2019), and The Album (2020), as well as the group’s world tours In Your Area and Born Pink World Tour.
In 2021, Lisa released her solo debut single album Lalisa, featuring the title track of the same name and “Money.” The album sold over 736,000 copies in South Korea within its first week, setting a record for a female solo artist, while “Money” surpassed 1 billion streams on Spotify — the first time for a K-pop soloist.
Beyond music, Lisa appeared on the reality show Real Man 300 (2018) and served as a dance mentor on Youth With You Seasons 2 and 3 in China (2020–2021). In 2023, she performed at the Crazy Horse cabaret in Paris and took part in the French charity event Le Gala des Pièces Jaunes.
