Lisa, born Pranpriya Manobal (ปราณปริยา มโนบาล) and later legally renamed Lalisa Manobal (ลลิษา มโนบาล), was born on March 27, 1997, in Buriram Province, Thailand. She is a Thai singer, rapper, and dancer under YG Entertainment. She is a member of the K-pop girl group BLACKPINK, serving as the main dancer, lead rapper, and sub-vocalist.
Early Life
Lisa grew up with her Thai mother and Swiss stepfather. She attended Praphamontree I and II School. From around the age of four, Lisa began learning dance and frequently participated in dance competitions. She was once a member of the dance crew We Zaa Cool alongside BamBam of GOT7, winning the Special Team Award at the LG Entertainment Million Dream Sanan World competition in 2009.
Career
On August 8, 2016, Lisa officially debuted as the main rapper, main dancer, and sub-vocalist of the South Korean girl group Blackpink under YG Entertainment. She participated in the recording and performances for the group’s debut single album Square One, which featured the tracks “Whistle” and “Boombayah”.
In 2017, Lisa continued her professional activities as part of Blackpink through stage performances, music programs, and promotional events in South Korea and international markets.
In 2018, Blackpink signed a global distribution partnership with Interscope Records and released the EP Square Up. During the same year, Lisa began presenting solo performance stages at the group’s concerts, with a focus on dance performances.
In April 2019, Blackpink released the EP Kill This Love, and Lisa performed with the group at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, further expanding their performance activities into the international music market.
In March 2020, Lisa served as a dance mentor on the reality television program Youth With You Season 2, produced by iQIYI, where she provided guidance and professional evaluations for contestants. In the same year, she was announced as a jewelry brand ambassador for Bulgari in South Korea, became a global ambassador for Celine, participated in promotional activities for Blackpink’s album The Album, and was appointed a global ambassador for MAC Cosmetics in the beauty sector, before being officially confirmed as a global ambassador for Bulgari later that year.
In 2021, Lisa continued her role as a dance mentor on Youth With You Season 3 (male edition). On September 10, 2021, she released her solo single album Lalisa as a solo artist under YG Entertainment, taking part in all recording, performance, and promotional activities in South Korea and international markets.
On September 16, 2022, Blackpink released their studio album Born Pink. Lisa participated in the album’s recording and performances, as well as the Born Pink World Tour, which ran through 2023 and spanned multiple countries.
In 2023, Lisa continued performing with Blackpink at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival as part of the group’s tour and international music events. In January 2024, she performed her solo songs at the charity music event Le Gala des Pièces Jaunes in Paris as an independent performing artist.
In 2024, Lisa founded her personal management company LLOUD Co. to directly oversee her individual music and entertainment activities. She signed a solo music distribution partnership with RCA Records, released the single “Rockstar” as an independent solo artist outside of YG Entertainment, was appointed a global ambassador for Louis Vuitton in the fashion sector, and released the singles “New Woman” in collaboration with Rosalía and “Moonlit Floor (Kiss Me)”.
On March 2, 2025, Lisa performed the song “Born Again” alongside Doja Cat and Raye at the 97th Academy Awards, becoming the first K-pop artist to perform at the Academy Awards. On May 16, 2025, the music video for “When I’m with You”, a collaboration with Tyla, was released.
In July 2025, Lisa and Blackpink began the Deadline World Tour at Goyang Stadium in South Korea, featuring solo performances throughout the tour, which ran until November 2025 and included 32 concerts across 18 cities worldwide.
