Early life

Mayuka was born and raised in Kyoto, Japan, in a family with an artistic background. Her mother is a private piano teacher, while her father is an office worker in the logistics sector. As an only child, Mayuka is known for her reserved nature and rarely publicizes her personal relationships. However, in an interview for the “NiziU Scout” program on the group’s official YouTube channel, she shared her close bond with fellow member Miihi through their shared interests in snacking and cooking.

Career

In 2019, Mayuka participated in the survival reality show Nizi Project organized by JYP Entertainment to form a Japanese girl group. In June 2020, she ranked 7th in the final of Nizi Project and officially became a member of NiziU, as the group released their pre-debut digital EP Make You Happy.

In December 2020, Mayuka officially debuted with NiziU through the maxi single Step and a Step, which reached number one on the Oricon Singles Chart and Billboard Japan Hot 100, followed by a performance at the NHK Kōhaku Uta Gassen. In March 2023, she contributed to NiziU‘s fifth single “Paradise”, and in July 2023, she participated in their second studio album Coconut with the eponymous title track.

In October 2023, Mayuka debuted in South Korea with NiziU through the single album Press Play, which included the tracks “Heartris”, “Lucky Star”, and the Korean version of “Paradise”; she also participated in the unit song “JUMP” alongside Rima and Nina.
