Miihi, whose full name is Suzuno Miihi, was born on August 12, 2004, in Kyoto, Japan. She is a Japanese singer and dancer currently managed by JYP Entertainment. Miihi is a member of the girl group NiziU, serving as a sub-vocalist and main dancer.
Early life
Miihi is the youngest in her family and has an older brother. She attended Tinkerbell Music School in Kyoto, where she quickly developed her singing and dancing skills. Before joining the Nizi Project, Miihi was already a trainee at JYP Entertainment alongside Rima and Mako. She began her training in late 2018 or early 2019 and was discovered while attending a TWICE concert in Japan.
In 2017, after attending a TWICE concert at Osaka Dome with her mother, Miihi became inspired by the stage and decided to pursue a career as a singer. Later that year, she took part in a live audition held by JYP Entertainment in Tokyo, passed the selection round, and officially became a JYP trainee at the age of 14.
Career
In 2020, Miihi participated in the survival show Nizi Project, where she impressively ranked 6th overall and debuted with the girl group NiziU under JYP Entertainment. With her clear vocals and striking appearance, she quickly became the “ace” of the group’s cute concept.
However, right before the group’s debut, Miihi was forced to temporarily halt activities due to exhaustion and significant weight loss. Her frail appearance backstage in October 2020 sparked criticism about JYP’s management of trainee health. Nevertheless, Miihi returned just in time for the music video “Step and a Step,” maintaining her role as one of the main vocalists.
From 2021, Miihi began taking on opening lines and center roles during dance breaks in singles like “Take a Picture” and “Poppin’ Shakin’,” signaling a shift from a sweet image to a brighter, smoother pop vocal style. The mini-album Coconut (2022) marked a major milestone, with Miihi consistently taking on hooks and bridges.
NiziU’s cute concept became a topic of debate on forums like TheQoo and Pann, with many suggesting the group lacked a unique identity in an oversaturated K-pop market. Since NiziU is a Japanese group operating under a K-pop model, they often faced scrutiny over cultural and historical issues. As for Miihi, despite being boxed into the “cute” image, international fans have expressed hope that she’ll break out with a more mature concept.
In 2023, Miihi released her solo track “Twilight Smile” as part of the album U, venturing into emotional ballad territory and breaking free from her one-dimensional idol image. The Light it Up Dome Tour at Tokyo Dome was a chance for her to showcase her solo stage presence with the performance of “Secret Base,” which received much praise.
Alongside music, Miihi expanded her influence into fashion. She collaborated with the brand Earth Music & Ecology in 2024 with the photo concept “Urban Fairy,” gradually building a more refined and mature image. In 2025, her personal TikTok channel @miihi_daylight reached 1 million followers within just six months, thanks to short cover clips and behind-the-scenes training videos.
Strengths
Miihi holds two core positions in NiziU: Lead Vocalist and Lead Dancer.
Vocally, she possesses a bright, clear voice, smoothly transitioning from soft tones to high notes without sounding forced or off-pitch. She often handles hooks or bridges that require a cheerful mood, as her vocal color matches the group’s signature sweet pop sound. In the debut track “Make You Happy,” Miihi was given the second chorus — a central vocal segment — showing her role as a strategic vocal anchor even though NiziU generally splits lines evenly.
In terms of dance, Miihi is among the group’s main dancers, known for her wave and isolation techniques, as well as fluid arm movements that keep the group’s formations soft and polished during light pop choreography. On stage, she is often placed on the outer lines during transitions but performs key moves like waves or point gestures during hook sections.
During Nizi Project, Miihi consistently ranked high in both vocal and dance categories, being one of the few members capable of delivering a full performance across both areas without technical support from the group’s formation.
Additionally, Miihi is proficient in Korean and English, allowing her to lead fansigns, conduct international interviews, and engage with Korean media. In NiziU’s multicultural environment, she serves as a “bridge,” keeping the team’s operations smooth even though she doesn’t stand out as a traditional leader.
