Cho Mi-yeon (Korean: 조미연), stage name Miyeon, is a South Korean singer and actress, born on January 31, 1997, in Incheon, South Korea. She is currently active in the music industry as a member of the girl group i-dle under Cube Entertainment, where she serves as the group’s main vocalist and visual.

Early life

Miyeon was a trainee at YG Entertainment from 2010 to 2015 and was once part of the pre-debut project PINKPUNK. She was also considered a strong candidate to debut with BLACKPINK but left the company after repeated delays. Afterwards, she continued to study vocal techniques, songwriting, and music production before signing with Cube Entertainment, where she trained for about a year before officially debuting with i-dle in 2018.

Career

In 2016, Miyeon worked as an independent artist and participated in Lim Seul-ong’s tour in Canada. In 2017, she appeared in the music video for Lim’s song “You” and became a trainee at Cube Entertainment.

On May 2, 2018, Miyeon officially debuted as a member of (i-dle) with the EP I Am and its lead single “Latata.” The group earned its first music program award on The Show 20 days after debut. In October 2018, Miyeon joined Riot Games’ virtual group K/DA, providing the voice for the character Ahri in the song “Pop/Stars.”

In 2019, Miyeon collaborated with rapper Hangzoo on the track “Cart” and debuted in Japan with the group. From August to October, the group participated in the reality competition show Queendom.

In 2020, Miyeon appeared on King of Mask Singer and reprised the voice of Ahri for the tracks “The Baddest” and “More.” In September, she took a lead role in the web drama Replay: The Moment and contributed to several soundtracks.

In 2021, Miyeon became the host of the radio show Gossip Idle and a presenter for M Countdown. In May, she featured in a performance for BTOB on the program Kingdom: Legendary War.

On April 27, 2022, Miyeon made her solo debut with the EP My and the title track “Drive.” Between 2022 and 2024, Miyeon served as an ambassador and muse for various brands, including Espoir, Bewants, J.Estina, City Breeze, Jill Stuart Beauty, Jimmy Choo, and Wakemake.

In September 2023, she and Yuqi released “How to Twerk” for the Street Woman Fighter 2 soundtrack. On November 16, Miyeon concluded her tenure as an M Countdown presenter after 1,000 days. That same year, (i-dle) released the single “Queencard,” which achieved a Perfect All-kill and sold 2 million copies globally.

On January 29, 2024, the group released their second studio album, 2, with the track “Fate” also achieving a Perfect All-kill. In August 2024, Miyeon performed her self-composed song “Sky Walking” at the opening concert of the I-dol tour. On August 28, 2025, she officially released “Sky Walking” as a single.

From 2024 to 2025, Miyeon appeared in reality programs such as My Sibling’s Romance and Country Life of Gen-Z, while also serving as an MC for KCON Germany 2024 and the Hanteo Music Awards 2025.

In July 2025, she released the soundtrack “We Met by Chance” for the film The Tale of Gyeonwoo and Seonnyeo. On November 3, 2025, Miyeon released her second solo EP, MY, Lover, featuring the pre-release single “Reno” in collaboration with Colde.
