Rosé, born in New Zealand as Roseanne Park (Korean birth name: Park Chae-young), is a dual South Korean–New Zealand singer born on February 11, 1997. She is the main vocalist and lead dancer of the girl group BLACKPINK under YG Entertainment.

Early life

In 2004, at age seven, Rosé and her family moved to Melbourne, Australia. Her family includes her father, a lawyer; her mother, a businesswoman; and an older sister, Alice Park, who is also a lawyer. Rosé attended Kew East Primary School and later Canterbury Girls’ Secondary College in Canterbury, Victoria. During her youth, she began singing and learned to play the guitar and piano, and she was a member of a local church choir.

In 2012, Rosé attended a YG Entertainment audition in Sydney, Australia. She ranked first among 700 participants and became a trainee for the company on the same day. Following her selection, she moved to South Korea to begin training. Rosé withdrew from Canterbury Girls’ Secondary College prior to Year 11 after signing with the label.

Career

In 2016, June 22, Rosé was revealed as the final member of Blackpink. The group officially debuted on August 8, 2016, with the single album Square One, featuring the tracks “Whistle” and “Boombayah.”

In 2018, November, Rosé commenced the In Your Area world tour with Blackpink, which concluded in February 2020. In 2019, she performed at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, marking the first time a K-pop girl group appeared at the event.

In 2020, Rosé was appointed the global ambassador for Saint Laurent and featured in the brand’s Pre-Fall 2020 campaign directed by Anthony Vaccarello.

In 2021, March, Rosé released her debut solo single album R, containing the tracks “On the Ground” and “Gone,” through YG Entertainment and Interscope Records. “On the Ground” reached the highest position for a South Korean female soloist on the Billboard Hot 100 at the time and peaked at number one on the Billboard Global 200. In 2021, April, she was named the global ambassador for Tiffany & Co. and appeared in the Tiffany HardWear campaign.

In 2022, October, she began the Born Pink World Tour with Blackpink, performing 66 shows across 22 countries until September 2023 to promote their second studio album, Born Pink.

In 2023, April, Rosé performed her solo songs “Gone” and “On the Ground” during Blackpink’s headline set at Coachella. By the end of 2023, she concluded her individual management contract with YG Entertainment and her solo recording contract with Interscope Records.

In 2024, June, Rosé signed a solo management contract with The Black Label and subsequently signed a recording contract with Atlantic Records.
