Shuhua, birth name Yeh Shu-hua (葉舒華, Korean: Yoo Su-hwa, 유수화), born January 6, 2000, in Yangmei District, Taoyuan City, Taiwan, is a Taiwanese singer and model under Cube Entertainment. She is the youngest member (maknae), visual, and sub-vocalist of the girl group I-dle (formerly (G)I-DLE).
She comes from a mixed heritage, with a Hakka Han father and an Atayal mother, one of Taiwan’s indigenous groups. As part of the Gen Z idol generation, she stands out for her distinct stage presence, visual appeal, and unconventional yet warm personality.
Early life
Shuhua grew up in a family of three daughters as the middle child. Mandarin is her native language, though she is not fluent in Hakka. From a young age, she aspired to become an actress, often practicing lines from television dramas at home while imagining performing before an audience.
She attended Bugang Kookmin Elementary and Middle School before enrolling at Hwa Kang Arts School in Taipei, majoring in theatre. During this period, she commuted daily from Taoyuan to Taipei. Influenced by K-pop’s growing popularity in Taiwan and inspired by Hyuna, she began pursuing a career in the Korean entertainment industry.
In May 2016, at age 16, Shuhua auditioned at the Cube Star World Audition in Taiwan and was accepted by Cube Entertainment. Later that year, she moved to South Korea to begin training, pausing her studies at Hwa Kang Arts School. Facing language barriers and limited dance experience, she struggled through long training sessions, often late into the night. Despite difficulties, she continued with support from fellow future members, eventually debuting as part of I-dle.
Career
In 2016, Shuhua was scouted by Cube Entertainment through the Cube Star World Audition in Taiwan. After completing her first year of high school, she moved to South Korea to become a trainee. In June 2017, Shuhua appeared in a commercial for Rising Star Cosmetics alongside Yuqi and Minnie.
In September 2017, she was featured in the music video for the song “Pet” by 10cm and Yoo Seon-ho.
On May 2, 2018, after two years of training, Shuhua debuted as a member of the group i-dle (originally (G)I-DLE), taking on the roles of visual, sub-vocalist, and maknae (the youngest member). In the early days, she had a limited number of singing lines as she was still perfecting her Korean language and vocal skills.
In 2019, Shuhua won a bronze medal in Rhythmic Gymnastics at the 16th Idol Star Athletics Championships. In December 2020, she participated in the Maknae stage at the KBS Song Festival with the song “I Don’t Know” by Apink, performing alongside Yuna (Itzy), Jang Won-young (IVE), and Arin (Oh My Girl).
Starting in 2023, Shuhua began to expand her individual activities. In May, she became the host (MC) for the web variety show Workdol (May 25–December 21, 2023), where she experienced various part-time jobs in South Korea. During world tours, she had multiple solo stages, notably “Boys” on the I Am Free-TY World Tour (2023) and Tyla’s “Water” on the i-DOL World Tour (2024).
On February 8, 2024, Shuhua temporarily suspended activities for health reasons, returning to perform on March 21 at the MLB Seoul Series. In April 2024, she became a brand ambassador for Robinmay and D+AF and appeared in the May issue of GQ Taiwan for the GQ Global Creativity Awards section.
In 2025, Shuhua continued to push her solo career. She hosted the Mnet 30th Chart Show and attended New York Fashion Week in September, wearing Look 34 (a gray suit) at the COS Fall/Winter 2025 show, garnering international media attention for her high-fashion style.
In June 2025, Shuhua began preparations for her solo debut album, which is expected to be released at the end of the year. In (G)I-DLE’s album We Are (May 2025), she received her first songwriting credit for the track “If You Want” (그래도 돼요).

Friends
Tzuyu (TWICE) is one of Shuhua’s closest friends. The two often meet up during their free time and post pictures together on social media. Their relationship is so close that Shuhua once didn’t recognize Tzuyu in a photo where she was wearing makeup because she was only used to seeing Tzuyu with a bare face. In 2020, Tzuyu even praised Shuhua’s “personality charm” in an Ilgan Sports survey.
Elkie (former CLC member) played the role of connecting Shuhua and Tzuyu. Elkie was a senior to Shuhua at Cube Entertainment and took care of her when she first arrived at the company as a trainee. The three of them frequently hang out together, even after Elkie left Cube. In November 2024, the trio met up in Taipei after Elkie’s solo concert. Tzuyu has also previously complimented Elkie’s “stage appeal.”
Yoo Seonho is also a close friend of Shuhua’s. He has appeared as a guest on Shuhua’s show.
Additionally, Shuhua is known to be friends with Debby Tuo (a former idol trainee) and Kwon Eunbin (CLC)—who were also with her at Cube Entertainment.
