V, born Kim Tae-hyung on December 30, 1995, is a South Korean singer and actor. He is active in the music and entertainment industry in South Korea and is a member of the boy band BTS, serving as a vocalist and visual.
Early life
Kim Tae-hyung was born on December 30, 1995, in Seo-gu, Daegu, South Korea, and was raised in Geochang County. He is the eldest of three children. During his youth, Kim Tae-hyung expressed a desire to pursue a singing career and began learning to play the saxophone in middle school.
In 2011, Kim Tae-hyung auditioned for Big Hit Entertainment in Daegu and was selected as a trainee. During the training period, he attended Korean Arts High School and graduated in 2014.
Career
In 2011, V passed the Big Hit Entertainment audition in Daegu and began his tenure as a trainee. During this phase, he participated in vocal and dance training while preparing for his debut as a member of BTS.
On June 13, 2013, V made his official debut as a vocalist of BTS on the music program M Countdown with the track “No More Dream” from the single album 2 Cool 4 Skool. Subsequently, he continued activities with the group in releases including the EP O!RUL8,2? and the first Korean studio album Dark & Wild.
In 2014, V participated in promotions with BTS for the EPs Skool Luv Affair and Skool Luv Affair Special Addition, while also performing in the group’s first concert series in South Korea and internationally.
In 2015, he served as a vocalist during the promotional cycles for the albums The Most Beautiful Moment in Life, Pt.1 and The Most Beautiful Moment in Life, Pt.2, and participated in group concert tours.
In 2016, V received his first co-composition credit for the song “Hold Me Tight” on the EP The Most Beautiful Moment in Life, Pt.1 and co-wrote lyrics for “Fun Boyz.” That same year, he released the solo track “Stigma” in the album Wings as a singer and co-composer. Also in 2016, V began his acting career with a supporting role as Hansung in the historical television drama Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth, for which he and Jin performed the soundtrack “It’s Definitely You.”
