Wonhee (born Lee Won-hee on June 26, 2007) is a South Korean singer and actress. She is a member of the South Korean girl group ILLIT under the agency Belift Lab, where she serves as the center and lead vocalist. Wonhee officially debuted with ILLIT on March 25, 2024, after finishing in first place on the 2023 survival program R U Next?.
Early life
Wonhee was born in Busan and later relocated to Changwon, Gyeongsangnam-do. She has an older brother, born in 2006, and is the cousin of Hwang Suji. Wonhee attended Yongho Elementary School and Bansong Girls’ Middle School. She withdrew from Changwon Girls’ High School to pursue her music career before enrolling in the Department of Practical Music at Hanlim Multi Arts High School.
Wonhee was scouted by a representative from Belift Lab at the Express Bus Terminal Station a few weeks before the production of R U Next? began. Her training period prior to the show was approximately two months, and she trained for a total of nine months to one year before her official debut in 2024. During her time in high school, she served as a sports department lead.
Career
In June 2023, Wonhee participated in the HYBE and Belift Lab survival show R U Next?. In the final episode, she ranked first with 3.3 million votes, becoming the first member of the girl group ILLIT.
On March 25, 2024, ILLIT debuted with the EP SUPER REAL ME. Wonhee performed as the group’s center and lead vocalist, with the lead single “Magnetic” gaining significant public attention.
In September 2024, Wonhee began hosting an individual variety program titled My Neighbor Wonhee. On October 21, 2024, ILLIT released their second EP, I’LL LIKE YOU, featuring the lead single Cherish (My Love).
In November 2024, Wonhee performed with ILLIT at the 2024 MAMA Awards, featuring a stage medley of “Magnetic” and “Cherish (My Love)”. In December 2024, she participated in a collaborative performance with Woonhak of BOYNEXTDOOR at the 2025 SBS Gayo Daejeon.
In February 2025, ILLIT released the single “Almond Chocolate”. In April 2025, Wonhee began her acting career in the SBS youth drama Spring of Youth.
