I.N (born Yang Jeong-in on February 8, 2001) is a South Korean singer. He is a member of the boy group Stray Kids under JYP Entertainment, where he serves as a vocalist and the youngest member of the group.
Early life
I.N was born and raised in Busan, South Korea, alongside an older brother and a younger brother twelve years his junior. His family supported his musical ambitions, and he has expressed a desire to perform with his siblings.
Prior to pursuing music, I.N began working as a child model at the age of seven. He developed an interest in singing after being asked by adults to perform trot music. Since then, he has dedicated himself to singing, with specific skills including trot performance and playing the piano.
During middle school, after peers remarked that he appeared stern when not smiling, I.N began to smile more frequently. He majored in Applied Music at the School of Performing Arts Seoul (SOPA). I.N has stated that had he not pursued a career as a singer, he would have wished to become an elementary school teacher due to his fondness for children.
Career
In 2017, I.N participated in the reality survival show Stray Kids, produced by JYP Entertainment to select members for a new boy group.
In 2018, I.N officially debuted as a vocalist and the maknae (youngest member) of Stray Kids. On March 25, the group held the showcase Unveil (Op. 01: I Am Not). On March 26, Stray Kids released the debut EP I Am Not and commenced promotional activities with the lead single “District 9”.
In 2019, I.N and Stray Kids executed the Clé project series, releasing the singles “Miroh”, “Side Effects”, and “Levanter”, while completing the group’s first world tour.
In 2020, I.N participated in the release of the group’s first studio album, Go Live, featuring the title track “God’s Menu”, followed by the reissue album In Life in September of the same year.
In 2021, I.N released his first solo track, “Maknae on Top”, through the SKZ-Player project in January. During that year, Stray Kids won the competition program Kingdom: Legendary War and released the album Noeasy with the lead single “Thunderous”.
In 2022, I.N participated in promotions for the EPs Oddinary and Maxident, both of which reached number one on the Billboard 200 chart. In December 2022, I.N released the self-composed solo song “Hug Me” as part of the digital album SKZ-Replay.
In 2023, I.N featured in the albums 5-Star and Rock-Star and performed in the 5-Star Dome Tour across various stadiums. In December, I.N released the solo track “Untitled” and attended international fashion events as a guest of Alexander McQueen.
In 2024, Stray Kids released the EP Ate in July with the single “Chk Chk Boom”, during which I.N participated in promotional activities and performed at the Lollapalooza festival in Chicago. In December, I.N appeared in the album Hop with the song “Walkin On Water” and initiated a personal cover project on digital platforms.
