Yujin, full name An Yujin (안유진), was born on September 1, 2003, in Dunsan-dong, Seo-gu District, Daejeon, South Korea. She is a South Korean singer, songwriter, model, dancer, MC, and actress under Starship Entertainment. She is known to the public as the leader, main vocalist, and main dancer of the K-pop girl group IVE, and as a former member of the project group IZ*ONE.
Early Life
Yujin has an older sister born in 1999, four years her senior. She attended Cheongju Sannam and Daejeon Samcheon Elementary Schools, then Gwanak Middle School. From a young age, Yujin showed athletic talent, winning first place in a relay race and excelling as a member of the jump rope club.
Career
Yujin began training at Starship Entertainment in December 2016 while in eighth grade. After one year and four months of training, she joined the survival program Produce 48 from June to August 2018. Placing fifth overall with 280,487 votes, she debuted in October 2018 as lead vocalist and lead dancer of the project group IZ*ONE.
During 2.5 years with IZONE, Yujin achieved success with hit songs such as La Vie en Rose, Violeta, FIESTA, and Panorama. She appeared on King of Mask Singer at just 15 years old, becoming the youngest contestant in the show’s history. Following IZONE’s disbandment in April 2021, she returned to Starship Entertainment and re-debuted as the leader, main vocalist, and main dancer of six-member group IVE on December 1, 2021, with the single Eleven.
Yujin co-wrote the lyrics for Heroine from IVE’s first full-length album I’ve Ive, released in April 2023. She also performed the Korean version of the theme song This Wish for Disney’s Wish, released on December 22, 2023.
From March 2021 to March 2022, Yujin served as MC for SBS’s music program Inkigayo alongside NCT’s Sungchan and Treasure’s Jihoon. She has hosted SBS’s year-end music festival Gayo Daejeon annually since 2022, co-hosting with Key and Cha Eun-woo in 2022, and with Key and Yeonjun in 2023.
Yujin has appeared in various variety shows, including Steel Troops Season 2 in 2022, Earth Arcade since 2022, and Crime Scene Returns in 2024. She earned two nominations at the 60th Baeksang Arts Awards, winning the Prizm Popularity Award (Female).
In fashion and advertising, Yujin became the fourth-generation idol with the most brand endorsement deals in 2023, securing 12 contracts—seven of which were individual deals. She has been a brand ambassador for Fendi since January 2023, representing the brand at Milan Fashion Week. Yujin is the fourth-generation idol with the most individual awards without having debuted as a soloist or acted in dramas/films.
At the prestigious Baeksang Arts Awards 2024, she won the Prizm Popularity Award (Female) and was nominated for Best Female Variety Performer. She became the first K-pop idol since Suzy in 2018 to win this award, and the first non-professional actress to be recognized for variety show activities.
In the variety show field, Yujin won “Female Variety Idol of the Year” at the Brand of the Year Awards—organized annually by the Korea Consumer Forum—for two consecutive years (2023–2024). She also won “Most Influential Female Variety Idol” at the Brand Customer Loyalty Awards 2025.
At the 2022 TVING Awards, hosted by South Korea’s largest streaming platform, Yujin won Content of the Year for Earth Arcade and Best Player of the Year.
