BEJ48 is a Chinese idol girl group active in music and stage performances. Based in Beijing, China, the group is a subsidiary of Shanghai Star48 Culture Media Group Co., Ltd. (Star48), with its Beijing operations managed by Beijing Siba Culture Media Ltd.
BEJ48 officially debuted on April 20, 2016, following an announcement by Star48. The group released its debut EP, The Awakening (元气觉醒), on September 6, 2016. Operating under a multi-team system, Team B and Team E served as the two primary units during the initial phase. All members are Chinese.
Meaning of BEJ48
The prefix BEJ is an abbreviation of Bei Jing (北京), derived from the Pinyin transliteration of the city where the group is based. The number 48 follows the model established by Japan’s AKB48, which was subsequently adopted by SNH48 and its sister groups. BEJ48 was one of the first two sister groups of SNH48 to be established, debuting alongside GNZ48 on April 20, 2016.
Fandom & Lightsticks
Fans of BEJ48 commonly refer to themselves as 爱友 (Àiyǒu), meaning “beloved friends.” This reflects the direct interaction model between members and fans through regular theater performances.
BEJ48 does not utilize a single, unified official lightstick for the entire group. Within the SNH48 Group system, each member has their own support color (应援色). Fans typically prepare their own lightsticks and banners matching the specific color of their favorite member when attending theater shows. Additionally, Team B and Team E are represented by magenta and blue, respectively.

A distinctive feature of BEJ48’s operations is its dedicated theater located at Youtang Life Square in the Chaoyang District of Beijing. The group performs there regularly, independent of large-scale tours. In October 2016, BEJ48 (Team E) held its first exclusive mini-concert for fans at the Communication University of Zhejiang.

Following its restructuring, the group released the singles Echo of Love (爱的回响, 2023), Because of You (因为你, 2023), Peppermint Candy (薄荷糖, 2024), and Youth Like Fire (青春如火, July 2025), all of which feature contemporary C-pop styles. Since early 2026, the group has been performing a new theater stage production titled B·Rise (梦之门).
