CKG48 (full name: Chungking48) is a Chinese idol girl group managed by Shanghai Siba Culture Media Group (STAR48) as part of the SNH48 Group. The group is based and operates in Chongqing, China.
Established in 2017, CKG48 held its first theater performance on December 24, 2017. CKG48 follows the theater-based idol model, where members perform regularly at their dedicated theater in Chongqing.

As of January 2026, CKG48 consists of 30 official members and 8 trainees. Throughout its history, the group has introduced nine generations of members, with a total of 108 members having joined the group. CKG48 previously operated three teams: Team C, Team K, and Team G. Team G was later disbanded and was not reinstated during the group’s 2023 restructuring.
Meaning of CKG48
The name CKG48 is derived from the first three letters of Chungking, the older English transliteration of Chongqing, combined with the number 48 following the naming convention of the SNH48 Group.
The number 48 originates from the AKB48 (Japan) idol model, associated with the concept of “idols you can meet.” This model emphasizes frequent theater performances and direct interaction events between idols and their fans.
Fandom & Lightsticks
CKG48 does not have a single unified fandom name for the entire group. Instead, fans typically focus on supporting specific members, forming individual fan communities for each idol within the group.
During theater performances and concerts, fans use multi-colored lightsticks to cheer. Each member within the SNH48 Group ecosystem usually has a designated support color, and fans will use lightsticks or banners matching the specific color of the member they support.
Operations
CKG48 operates primarily in the Mainland Chinese market, with its activity hub centered in Chongqing and Southwest China.
In its operational history, CKG48 underwent a significant restructuring period. On January 19, 2019, the group was temporarily disbanded, and all members were transferred to other groups within the SNH48 Group, such as SNH48, GNZ48, and BEJ48.
On March 18, 2019, management announced the re-establishment of CKG48, continuing operations with a new-generation theater in Chongqing.
Key Activities
Notable milestones in CKG48’s history include:
- December 24, 2017: CKG48 held its inaugural theater performance.
- 2018: The group released musical works such as New Curtain (新的帷幕) and Running Future (奔跑的未来).
- 2020: The group released the digital single Performance Season (表演季).
- May 8, 2021: Debuted the subunit SPICY, consisting of five members.

Musical Style
CKG48 adopts a youthful idol pop style influenced by J-pop and C-pop, inherited from the 48 Group model. Theater performances combine live vocals, group choreography, and setlists designed around specific concepts.
The subunit SPICY (debuted in May 2021) presents a bolder and more charismatic image compared to the group’s main style. This five-member sub-group remains one of the most prominent side projects in CKG48’s history.
