Meaning of Hearts2Hearts

According to SM Entertainment, the name Hearts2Hearts represents a connection with global fans through music and emotional messaging. The concept depicts the artists and the audience moving forward as a unified collective.

The “S2” component in the name refers to a common digital shorthand for the heart symbol (♥) used in online communication in South Korea and other Asian regions. This notation serves as an informal expression of affection or preference.

Fandom and lightstick

The official fandom of Hearts2Hearts is named S2U (Korean: 하츄; RR: Ha-chu). The name was announced during the group’s debut showcase at YES24 Live Hall on February 24, 2025. The designation was selected via an online recruitment process held from February 4 to 11, 2025.

The “S2” symbol mirrors the shape of a heart (♥), while “U” represents “You” (the fans). S2U signifies that fans remain at the center of the group’s heart and highlights the bond between the performers and their audience.

In January 2026, the official Hearts2Hearts lightstick was released. The device features the group’s signature colors of white and light blue. It consists of a transparent spherical head containing a heart symbol integrated with the Hearts2Hearts logo. The lightstick includes a central control function for lighting synchronization during live performances and fan meetings.

Hearts2Hearts is the first girl group debuted by SM Entertainment since aespa in 2020. It is also the largest female ensemble established by the company since the debut of Girls’ Generation in 2007.

The debut single “The Chase” features a synth-pop foundation with ethereal textures and electronic beats. The B-side track “Butterflies” incorporates heavy bass and R&B-influenced vocal arrangements.

Subsequent releases explored different instrumentation. “Style” introduced city pop elements, while “Pretty Please” utilized funk details. The mini-album Focus, released in October 2025, continued the R&B and electronic pop direction. The 2026 track “Rude!” resulted in various community-produced remixes, including Y2K R&B and city pop versions.

For the releases of The Chase, “Style”, and the mini-album Focus, Hearts2Hearts utilized promotional imagery featuring bright tones and youth-oriented aesthetics. The visual content centers on themes of emotion and the connection between the artist and the listener.

The debut mini-album Focus earned a Platinum certification from the KMCA, with 451,790 copies sold in South Korea.
