Biography
TSH48 is managed by Shanghai ENSI Culture Media (上海恩斯艺文化传媒有限公司), replacing the previous management, Shanghai Shangyue Culture Development Co. Ltd. (AKB48 China). The group originally debuted as AKB48 Team SH on July 25, 2018, following a nationwide audition in April 2018 that selected 34 founding members.
On January 1, 2026, AKB48 Team SH officially rebranded as TSH48 after their contract with the AKB48 system concluded, transitioning into an independent group. On the same day, Ye Zhien (叶知恩), a first-generation member, was appointed as the group’s official Captain.

Meaning of TSH48
TSH48 stands for Team Shanghai 48. The letter “T” represents “Team,” “SH” is the abbreviation for Shanghai, and “48” is the number associated with the 48 Group idol system originating from Japan. The group does not have a separate official Chinese name other than the designation TSH48.
Musical Style
TSH48 follows the traditional idol pop model of the 48 Group, featuring Chinese covers and adaptations of the Japanese AKB48 repertoire alongside original compositions for the domestic market. Their singles and EPs are typically released in multiple versions with varying member lineups, featuring a designated Center for each release.
The group’s stage image embodies the signature 48 Group concept of “pure and youthful girls,” characterized by school-themed costumes and high-energy performances. Notable works include their 1st single “Shonichi (初日)” (January 14, 2019), the 3rd single “Go! Girls (冲吧!少女们)”, and the 6th single “QianQiu Ling (千秋令)” (September 30, 2021).
Trivia
- The group has seen a total of 74 original members across seven generations since 2018.

- Member Wong Mann-ling, formerly of TPE48 (Taiwan), is the only member not recruited through the Mainland China audition system.
